2017 Ford Kuga release date, price, specs – The Kuga is a compact SUV which has been around since 2007 with a small facelift received back in 2013. It is now time for it to get another update with the 2017 Kuga which will get a fresh new design as well as slightly different engines. Just like before, the car will also be available in the US market as well as in a few other countries under the Escape name with no real changes made to it except the name. Ford didn’t release much information about this upcoming model but a few spy shots of the new Ford Kuga 2017 wearing a camo show a lot of details about the upcoming car.
2017 Ford Kuga release date and price
The release date should be till the end of the 2015 and it should be ready for sale in Europe at the start of 2016. However, in the US the Escape will not be released until the mid of 2016. Its price will remain unchanged as well, the base model of the Kuga being expected to cost no more than the equivalent of $25,000 in Europe while in the US it should stay bellow that mark.
New Ford Kuga 2017 specs
Under the hood of the new Ford Kuga 2017 we are likely to see the most amount of changes, the new base motor being a completely new EcoBoost model. This is going to be the hugely acclaimed 1.5 liter turbocharged inline 4 which is going to offer on the Kuga up to 181 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque, all while offering up to 30 MPG on average which for a car this size it is better than average. Further up the range the 2 liter engine is likely going to be swapped with a 2.3 liter EcoBoost engine with up to 280 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque which will only be offered as an all wheel drive model. This will very likely be the bulk of its sales in the US where the 2.5 liter engine is likely going to be dropped and replaced with the 1.5 liter EcoBoost which is both more powerful as well as more fuel efficient. The two engines are very likely going to be some of the first to use Ford’s all new 9- speed automatic which is said to be a lot better than the old 6 speed unit. In Europe, a 6 speed manual is also going to be offered with certain engines.
2017 Ford Kuga redesign
The interior of the new 2017 Ford Kuga will remain mostly unchanged from the current generation but the exterior will change dramatically. In the front it will see a completely new design very similar to that of the new Edge, with a 3-piece grille, slim LED headlights and even the more aggressive bumper. These will combine in a really nice design which is quite likely going to be the winning combination for Ford.
