2016 Dodge Durango price, changes, redesign – The Durango is the current best selling three row mid-size crossover on the US market because it offers an extremely good looking exterior, a very nice interior which is both well trimmed and equipped while the engines are both reliable and powerful. However, because Dodge announced itself as a high performance brand, they decided to discontinue the Durango meaning that the new Dodge Durango 2016 is going to be the last model that will come from the American manufacturer. In order to go out with pride, this last model is going to be the very best so far, it will include the most equipment as well as the most powerful engines yet.
2016 Dodge Durango redesign
Inside the cabin things are going to be familiar for those who stepped in the previous models of the car. This means that the 2016 Dodge Durango will only get a few upgrades such as better materials for the dashboard which is now going to be wrapped in a sponge-like material and leather that will be very soft to the touch. The seats will likely be offered even on the base model with the leather upholstery in order to make it more luxurious than the competition. The infotainment system is also likely going to be offered even on the base model, offering a very good surround audio system as well as a very crisp LCD screen.
The exterior will be identical to that of the 2014 model with a few exceptions. Firstly, the headlights will now be offered as standard with the Xenon low-beams which improve visibility during nighttime driving. On top of that, the 2016 Dodge Durango will be offered both with the chrome package as well as the limited edition model. At this point though there is not much information about the latter but it seems it will get a more aggressive body kit, it will be lower and it will get larger wheels and tires. On top of that, a quad-exhaust system has not been ruled out of the question.
New Dodge Durango 2016 price
There is still not that much information available but it seems that the 2016 model is going to be released at the end of 2015 and it will only be available for a year before being discontinued. The new Dodge Durango 2016 price will be between $32,000 and $45,000 for the base model and it will go up from there. However, we do expect a high performance version of the car which is going to be built in limited numbers as the last edition models. It is unclear yet what this car may be, but there are rumors about a Hellcat model of the Durango with a similar engine to those in the Hellcat Charger and Challenger.
2016 Dodge Durango changes
Engine wise, the 2016 Dodge Durango will get the same two engines as the current model. The base will use the 290 horsepower 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 while the R/T version will come as standard with a naturally aspirated 5.7 liter HEMI V8. This will make up to 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, enough to allow it to tow well over 6,000 pounds. Both of them will be available with an 8 speed automatic as standard while the all wheel drive system will only be available as an option. When equipped with the HEMI V8 engine the 2016 Dodge Durango towing capacity should be up to 7,400 lbs.
The upcoming special edition model on the other hand could use either the 6.2 liter supercharged V8 from the Hellcat cars or the more plausible 6.4 liter naturally aspirated V8 from the SRT models. This could provide up to 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque and it would make the 2016 Dodge Durango the fastest version of the Durango yet. It is unclear yet but this engine will likely be available only with the rear wheel drive model and it would include a very similar running gear to that of the SRT Grand Cherokee.
