2016 Dodge Dart refresh, mpg, price – The Dart is the smallest vehicle from Dodge’s car roster and despite that, it also was one of the better selling cars. It was the first one to use the European Fiat platform on the US market and one of the better looking cars Dodge made over the years. However, the current model is starting to get dated but luckily a new one has been announced as early as 2014 in a Dodge product plan which shows that in 2016 a brand new model of the Dart is going to come on the US market. This new Dodge Dart 2016 is supposed to be built on an evolution of the older platform and it should receive all new engines.
2016 Dodge Dart release date and price
On top of that, the great SRT badge is also going to return on it and it should bring some serious competition for the Focus ST and the Golf GTI in the compact car market. The release date for this model has been set some time in the end of 2015 or early 2016 while the car will not hit the showrooms earlier than the mid of 2016. Its price will likely remain similar to that of the current model. However, the SRT badged car is likely going to fetch well over $24,000 which is right were its competitors are.
2016 Dodge Dart refresh
Let’s start our small preview of the 2016 Dodge Dart with the exterior of the car. The current model is actually very good looking but it doesn’t really fit Dodge’ current design scheme so they are going to change that. To what extent, we don’t know so far. However, it is safe to assume that the production model will borrow quite a few design cues from both the new Challenger as well as from the upcoming Charger. In size it will be similar to the current model of the Dart but everything else is going to be different. The SRT badged model will get a more aggressive kit, 18 inch wheels with high performance tires as well as special colors that it will share with the Charger and all the other high performance cars from Dodge.
Its cabin will be no different either and it should borrow extensively from the Charger, especially in the design department. It will get a new dashboard, likely better materials as well as a lot of new features. The SRT model will also get sport seats as well as a new steering wheel.
New Dodge Dart 2016 specs
Under the hood of the new Dodge Dart 2016 we should see both new and old engines. The base is likely going to be the same naturally aspirated 2.0 liter inline 4 which is quite capable at 160 horsepower. Further up the range though the old 2.4 liter engine will most likely be replaced with a 1.8 liter turbocharged inline 4 with around 190 horsepower which will come from Alfa Romeo. The base engine will likely only be available with a 6 speed manual while the option will also get a 9 speed automatic.
The SRT Dart on the other hand is going to get something new. However, Dodge hasn’t said anything about what it will power the car but there are a few rumors. It seems that the car will still be available only with front wheel drive meaning that the powerplant under the hood will likely make less than 260 horsepower. There are two engines which could deliver this amount of power, either the 3.2 liter naturally aspirated Pentastar V6 or a 2.0 liter turbocharged inline 4 from Alfa Romeo. No matter on which engine they choose we really think that the next generation, 2016 Dodge Dart, is going to be a seriously fun car to drive.
