2016 Chrysler 200 price, changes, release date – The 200 from Chrysler has been released in the early 2014 and went on sale later that year. The car is actually based on the same platform as the Dart, but it has a slightly longer wheelbase as well as it is a bit wider, meaning it has more room available for its passengers. However, the car is nothing like most people expected it to be. It is front wheel drive, quite heavy and even though it has the most powerful engine in its class, it is not all that fast either. But, is it a disappointment? Well, no, and that’s because the 200 is a more refined car than many others out there and it is a lot more comfortable even than some more expensive cars.
2016 Chrysler 200 changes
The 2016 Chrysler 200 is going to be a small update of the model released a few months back which is going to include a few changes to its engines, slight tweaks to its interior as well as a nicer overall look. The release date for the 2016 update has been set in the mid of 2016 or later that year and the car should be ready for sale by the start of 2017. Its price will not get much higher than the current $23,000 for the base model but the top end models could see a slight increase due to the addition of a new model in the range.
New Chrysler 200 2016 changes
Just as we mentioned, interior of the new Chrysler 200 2016 is going to get even better than before. Chrysler is going to do that by adding a few more features which were either missing or were quite expensive and not really worth getting. As standard it will be equipped with cruise control, electric seats, windows and mirrors, a back-up camera as well as a leather wrapped steering wheel and satellite radio. Further options will include satellite navigation, a much bigger screen for the infotainment system as well as a remote start system. The seats will be just as good as before and the materials will be on par with the best of its class.
The exterior is going to be modified, but only slightly. The car should come with a new technology for its headlights which will improve the visibility by quite a big margin. On top of that it should receive a new cluster-design for the tail lights and the wheels are likely going to be upgraded across the range. The suspension system should see a small tweak in order to make the car a bit more fun to drive as well as faster around the corners.
2016 Chrysler 200 specs
But what about the engines of this small update of the car? Well, the base model will still come equipped with the naturally aspirated 2.4 liter inline 4, engine which is good for 184 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. The optional 3.6 liter V6 on the other hand will take the spot as the most powerful engine in its class with a rated output of 295 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Both of these will be offered with a 9 speed automatic which is silky smooth as well as front wheel drive while all wheel drive is going to be available on the V6 model.
The big news comes in the form of a rumor. It seems that the 2016 Chrysler 200 has a small chance of receiving an SRT model. This would likely get a similar engine to the next generation Wrangler, a 3 liter twin-turbo V6 which could provide anything between 350 and 400 horsepower and up to 400 lb-ft of torque. While such an engine is not really needed in its class, it could make a really nice competitor for the upcoming Tesla Model III as well as for the BMW M3.
