2016 Chevy Colorado diesel, mpg, price – The Chevrolet Colorado has been around on the International market for quite a bit of time before being released in the US. They took their time because the Colorado was available in the US under the Isuzu brand and it just didn’t make sense in that slow moving market to release another vehicle based on the same platform. However, when GM saw how fast the market was moving they decided to finally release the car back at the end of 2014 and now they are going to update it once again in order to make the new Chevy Colorado 2016 even more versatile than before. They are going to do it with the help of an all new engine as well as slight improvements in the manufacturing process which should further reduce the base price of the truck.

Just like before, it will also be offered under the GMC brand, but that’s a more upmarket version of the truck. The release date has been set at the end of 2016 or early 2017 which is just in time in order to make from the new model a perfect middle life update. The 2016 Chevy Colorado price will only change for the base version so expect it to get under $20,000, making it one of the best choices when it comes to light duty trucks.

Just as we mentioned before, engine wise the new Chevy Colorado 2016 is going to get all new engines with the exception of the base model which will continue to use the same naturally aspirated 2.5 liter inline 4 good for 200 horsepower (149 kW) and 191 lb-ft (259 Nm) of torque which is enough for day to day use but not that great for towing great weights. The higher end model will get an all new 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6 which will now make 305 horsepower (227 kW) and 269 lb-ft (365 Nm) of torque, all while using even less fuel than before. Both of these will be available with the Eaton 6 speed manual and rear wheel drive as standard while all wheel drive or the Hydra-Matic 6-speed automatic is going to be available as an option.

Engine type 2.5L DOHC I-4 3.6L V-6 VVT DI

Horsepower (hp / kW) 200 / 149 305 / 227
Torque (lb.-ft./Nm) 191 / 259 269 / 365

20 / 27 (2WD automatic)
19 / 25 (4WD)

The 2016 Colorado is also going to be one of the first GM products to receive the 2.8 liter Duramax inline 4 diesel engine which will provide 200 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque which is less than the V6 but all that torque will be available from really low down the rev range and on top of that it will use a lot less fuel. This is also going to be one of the first GM cars to get the all new 10 speed automatic co-developed with Ford.

The design of the new Chevy Colorado 2016 on the other hand will remain pretty much unchanged for this middle life refresh.
