2016 Cadillac Escalade price, color, changes – The Escalade has been updated for the 2014 model year, so the current car is actually quite new when compared to some of its competitors which are still rocking designs that are more than 10 years old. However, despite the fact that it is new, the Escalade does have a few problems. It is far too expensive for what it has to offer, the engine is one of the thirstiest V8s on the market and its safety equipment is not really up to date. In order to change these and improve the car, GM is going to release the new Cadillac Escalade 2016 sooner than everyone was expecting it. In fact, the new model of this luxury SUV should roll out on the market in the next couple of months for a price of around $72,000, a bit cheaper than before but with more luxury. When it comes to colors there are four new color options available: Crystal White Tricoat, Gray Silk Metallic, Red Passion Tintcoat and Dark Emerald Metallic (late introduction).
2016 Cadillac Escalade price
While the base price will be cheaper, a few options will get that price right back in the $90,000 territory which is where cars like the Mercedes GLS are which is far more luxurious as well as better to drive than the massive Escalade. However, GM is set on improving it so there is a slight change to the suspension system which is said to reduce body-roll by quite a big margin while not affecting the comfort of its passengers. On top of that, new safety technologies are going to be available in a rather cheap package, but more on that a bit later.
New Cadillac Escalade 2016 specs
Let’s start our preview of the new Cadillac Escalade 2016 with what it will get under the hood. The 6.2 liter naturally aspirated V8 is going to be kept, engine which is good for 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It also comes with the same 8-speed automatic transmission as before. At first, powertrain may seem very impressive but it is only rated for around 16 MPG on average and it usually does a lot less than that. In comparison, there are some V6 turbocharged competitors which get at least 40% better. In order to improve that, GM is likely going to fit the 2016 Cadillac Escalade with their new 10 speed automatic which will slightly improve gas mileage on the highway. A future model is likely going to ditch the massive V8 in the favor of a smaller 3.6 liter twin-turbo V6 which has the potential to provide the same amount of power, all while using a lot less fuel. A hybrid was also taken into account but it seems that Escalade buyers don’t want an engine like that which is a bit of a shame.
