2016 Acura TLX changes, specs, price – The TLX has been released back in 2014 as a replacement for both the Acura TL as well as for the TSX. The TLX is right in the middle of them in terms of size and power but it does come it a lot of new features which make it quite a good choice for its class. However, there are drawbacks which are likely going to be solved with the new Acura TLX 2016, a faster than usual mid-cycle update. This will include a revised design for the front-end of the car, improved engines as well as small changes to the interior which should make the car a lot easier to use.
2016 Acura TLX release date and price
Its platform on the other hand will remain unchanged which is to be expected considering it has only been on the market for a couple of years. However, there are a few rumors which suggest a wagon version for the TLX. While this has not been approved by Acura, it seems that this model could actually see the light of day, especially when there are now a few manufacturers like Mercedes which offer this kind of models in its class. The release date for this mid-life update has been set in the first half of 2016 when it will also be available for sale starting with around $33,000 which is in the lower half of its class.
New Acura TLX 2016 mpg specs
Engine wise, the new Acura TLX 2016 will use the same engines as before, with the only change being on the more powerful one. The base will remain the same 2.4 liter naturally aspirated inline 4 which will provide 206 horsepower and 182 lb-ft of torque which is quite impressive. This will only be available on the front wheel drive model and only with the 8 speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox. The other choice will be a naturally aspirated 3.5 liter V6 which should see a power increase to around 300 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It will only be available with a 9 speed automatic gearbox and either front or all wheel drive.
The most interesting part about its powertrain though is that the front wheel drive system comes with a four-wheel steering system which is incredibly handy, offering a much better car to drive than the average. The all wheel drive system on the other hand uses torque vectoring, offering one of the best experience on the market in this regard. The only drawback of the previous model being its tires which have been confirmed to be upgraded to something a lot better on the 2016 Acura TLX.
2016 Acura TLX changes
Just as we mentioned before, the interior of the 2016 Acura TLX will receive the most attention. This is because the current model is quite poor when it comes to the usability of the infotainment system which has been voted as one of the worst ever made mainly due to its two different screens and the different type of controls needed to do anything in it. It is rumored that it will be changed with a single 10 inch or bigger IPS LCD touch-screen that this time will likely use some type of Android OS in order to provide the best possible experience available. In order to keep the good look of the dashboard, some controls are now going to be moved higher on the center console which should also improve their usability.
The exterior of the 2016 Acura TLX on the other hand should get a new front fascia. While it will not stun by the difference between the two cars, the new model should get slightly different Jewel-eye headlights as well as a new grille which will make the car look a bit more composed.
