2017 Ford Fiesta redesign, price, specs, changes – The Fiesta is a great little sedan or four-door hatchback which has been around for ages. However, the current model is starting to show its age being released back in 2008 and since then it only received some facelifts which added features and a slightly changed design, but not much else. The new Ford Fiesta 2017 is expected to be an all-new car which should be a highly improved version over the previous model. It will get new engines, new features as well as a new bolder design which will very likely make it one of the top choices in its class.
2017 Ford Fiesta release date and price
While it has not been officially announced just yet, the car is quite likely going to be released in January 2016 while the production model will be ready for 2017. Ford wants to keep it silent because it will most likely be something revolutionary, just like the GT or the F-150 were in their respective class. The 2017 Ford Fiesta price will stay under $15,000 for the base model which is still great considering what it will get as standard.
There is no word yet about the platform of this upcoming model but it seems that Ford might just use a downsized version of that of the Focus. This would assure them that the great driving characteristics of the car will remain unchanged while the extra aluminum in its construction will mean an even lower weight which is always a good thing but even more so on such a small car.
New Ford Fiesta 2017 redesign
The exterior will likely be new for the 2017 Ford Fiesta but it will certainly borrow a lot of the design elements from the Fusion and even the new Mustang in order to create a great little package. In the front we should see a similar grille to the older model or to the Fusion but the body will be all new. The hatchback will be more aggressively styled while the sedan should be slightly larger in order to offer more room for the passengers in the back.
Inside the cabin, the new Ford Fiesta 2017 is going to be one of the first Ford cars to receive the all new Sync 3 system. This new infotainment unit will feature a more sensitive touch screen, bigger touch buttons, a more intuitive interface as well as a lot more options to choose from. As standard it will come with satellite navigation, 4G LTE connectivity and Wi-Fi. Besides the new system, the materials will improve when it comes to their quality and there should be more headroom for both the front and rear passengers.
2017 Ford Fiesta specs
Engine wise, the 2017 Ford Fiesta will come with a lot of choices, both for the US as well as for Europe. The base model will likely make use of a 1.0 liter 100 horsepower EcoBoost inline 3 while the option will offer around 123 horsepower. Both of these will be available for under $15,000 and both of them will offer more than 35 MPG on average. For the first time in the US the car should also come with special edition models such as the 140 horsepower Red and Black. However, this is where the similarities with the older model stop. The new Ford Fiesta 2017 will make use of a new gearbox and a more powerful engine for the ST. This will now make up to 200 horsepower and it should be more than enough to become one of the most fun cars to own out there. A limited run RS version has also been rumored for quite some time and it seems that it is in development. This would provide well over 240 horsepower and it may be the only compact car offered with all wheel drive as standard.
