2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty diesel, price, specs – The current F-250 has been on the market since 2011 and despite the fact the F-150 has been revised with the 2015 model year, the heavy duty trucks continued with the same model and relatively unchanged mostly because Ford planned something special for them. In fact, the new 2017 F-250 is going to be a completely overhauled truck which will have little to nothing in common with the older model. This is great news because it also means that the new manufacturing technologies from the F-150 are going to be carried over to the heavy duty line of trucks.
2017 Ford F-250 release date and price
This means that the new model will feature a high strength steel chassis which should be around 5% lighter than before as well as at least 20% more rigid. On top of that, the steel body will very likely be replaced with the great aluminum body of the F-150. This will allow the F-250 to be more fuel efficient as well as the maximum payload should be increased by a small margin which will increase the productivity of the truck. The 2017 Ford F-250 release date should be some time in the early 2016 when it will hit the market for a price no higher than $35,000, so right around where the current model is.
New Ford F-250 redesign
The design will change a lot over the current model. In fact, the new Ford F-250 will borrow the front fascia from the smaller F-150 and it will offer the same grille and headlights. However, the bumper will be an all new one made out of heavy duty steel, so it should be a lot more resilient than the one of the F-150. The back will also be very similar to the F-150 but the bumper will also be changed to something stronger. Changes over the smaller model are going to include new side running boards, bigger mirrors, a slightly longer cabin as well as much longer beds than on the smaller model, the biggest of them all being more than eight feet long.
Inside the cabin there will be something adequate for everyone. The base 2017 Ford F-250 will be very industrial in design and despite the fact the materials are going to be much better than on the previous model, the F-250 will now offer easier to reach buttons with gloves, standard air conditioning and electric windows while come models will even get electric mirrors. The premium versions on the other hand will come with all the usual commodities of a luxury sedan such as dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, satellite navigation and even leather upholstery.
2017 F-250 diesel specs
Engine wise, the 2017 F-250 is likely going to see a mix of old and new technology. The base model is likely going to finally see the discontinuation of the 6.2 liter V8. This should be replaced with a smaller 3.5 liter twin-turbocharged V6 which will make quite a bit more power than in the F-150. Early rumors suggest it could provide as much as 440 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, all while offering a 10 to 15% better fuel consumption. The transmission will likely remain the same 6 speed heavy-duty automatic which will power either the rear wheels or an all wheel drive system.
The 2017 Ford F-250 diesel will also be available and from the looks of it the 6.7 liter PowerStroke V8 will remain unchanged. This will make just as much as before at 440 horsepower and 860 lb-ft of torque, more than enough to tow well over 20,000 pounds with ease. The only drawback of this engine is the fact it is very expensive, even when compared with the EcoBoost, so it may only be suited for certain people.
