2017 Audi A5 coupe release date, redesign – The A5 is one of the most comfortable coupe cars on the market and with the quattro all wheel drive system as standard, it is also one of the easier cars to drive in its class, being able to inspire confidence to anyone. However, the car has been released back in 2007 and since then it did not really receive any real upgrades besides the facelift back in 2013. Because of this and the fact that the competition is fiercer than ever with cars such as the all new 4-Series, the ATS from Cadillac or even the Lexus RC, Audi has to step it up and release an all new model with the new Audi A5 2017 which is quite a though order to accomplish, especially since all the cars in its class are great.
2017 Audi A5 release date and price
It seems that the upcoming A5 is going to make use of the same all new modular platform as the A4 or even the A8. This will be build mostly out of lightweight materials, so it should drop the car’s weight by at least a couple hundred pounds. On top of that, the new platform should be stiffer which will allow Audi’s engineers to make an even better car to drive than before. The 2017 Audi A5 release date is likely going to be in the second quarter of 2016 while the car will be ready for sale by the end of 2016. The price should not see a major change over the current model which means it will start at roughly $41,000 and it could go up to as much as $70,000 or more, depending on the type of trim level the buyer will get.
New Audi A5 2017 redesign
The design of the new Audi A5 2017 is unknown at this point but there have been some early renders which show us how it may look. It seems that the car will borrow some of the design of the new Q7 or the A4 with a new hexagonal front grille, slimmer headlights with standard LED and HID lights in them, less chrome and more black accents which will make it look quite a bit more aggressive. On top of that, the new A5 will likely be lower and just like before, it will still be available in coupe, convertible or four-door forms, depending on the market it will be sold in.
Inside the cabin things are going to be quite similar to the exterior in the sense that the 2017 Audi A5 will change, but most of these changes will be subtle so only a trained eye will be able to see them. We expect it to share most, if not all, the interior with the A4, especially since the A4 will be a more premium car than before.
2017 Audi A5 coupe specs
Engine wise, the new 2017 Audi A5 will make use of both new and old engines. The base models as well as the S5 will make use of the same powertrains as before, with not many changes made to them. The base 2 liter engine is going to be upgraded to 240 horsepower and more than 250 lb-ft of torque while the optional 3 liter supercharged V6 which also comes as standard on the S5, is now going to develop around 330 to 370 horsepower which is a nice bump over the previous model.
The petrol powered RS5 on the other hand has been rumored at first to get the 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 but it seems now that Audi is developing a special powertrain just for it. This seems to be a 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged V6 which could develop as much as 460 horsepower and more than 450 lb-ft of torque which is a very nice improvement over the older 4.2 liter V8. A 6 speed manual gearbox is going to be available on most 2017 Audi A5 models as standard while an improved 7 speed dual-clutch automatic will be available as an option.
