2016 Nissan Murano release date, specs, price – In our opinion, the Murano is one of the best mid-size crossovers on the market, offering all a young man needs in order to feel great while driving it. The car looks amazing and it is one of the few which really manages to stand out from a crowd. While it has been released back in 2014, an update is going to get the Murano on the right track. This will solve a few issues of the current model and it should add a new powertrain option to the car’s roster. But, is it really worth waiting for the new Nissan Murano 2016? We have to say that it is highly worth it, especially considering the fact it should be ready to go on the market in the early 2016. Its price will most likely remain similar to that of the current model so expect it to cost around $31,000 for the base model and up to $50,000 for a fully equipped version.
2016 Nissan Murano changes
Most other things about it are going to remain unchanged which is to be expected considering it is a new car which only has minor issues. The running gear though is likely going to be tweaked a bit more in order to offer a more sporty ride than the previous version, all without sacrificing the composed and quite ride of the current model.
New Nissan Murano 2016 specs
Engine wise, the new Nissan Murano 2016 is going to make use of the same engine as before, a naturally aspirated 3.5 liter V6 good for 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque which is on the lower limit of its class. However, despite the power disadvantage, the greatly tuned CVT gearbox offers a really nice behavior so the engine feels gutsier than it really is. A more powerful version of this engine has been rumors for some time but it seems Nissan think 260 horsepower is more than enough for their Murano.
There is also a small chance for it to get a hybrid powertrain which would put the Murano high in its class in terms of fuel efficiency. This would likely use the 2.5 liter supercharged inline 4 and the electric motors from the Pathfinder. The power rating would be around 250 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque which when coupled with the 20% better fuel consumption than the V6 it would make for a really interesting choice. Unfortunately this has not been confirmed or denied by Nissan for now.
2016 Nissan Murano redesign
The exterior of the new model of the Murano will pass mostly unchanged from the current model which is to be expected. However, it is safe to assume that it will get as standard new Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights as well as a small spoiler in the back which is going to make it look a bit more sporty. Besides these, the car will also receive new color schemes which will contrast more with the black-line that separates the roof from the rest of the car. New wheel designs have also been rumored but we think the car is likely going to stick with the current designs.
Inside the cabin of the 2016 Nissan Murano things are going to get a bit more interesting. Firstly, there are going to be new technologies available even on the base model. The instrument cluster will get an all new 4.2 inch configurable display while the center console will get as standard a bigger screen than before. There will also be leather offered as standard while the steering wheel will also include aluminum for a more premium feel. The old console mounted shifter is also likely going to be changed with paddle shifters on the top end models which would increase the pleasure of driving by quite a big margin.
