2016 Honda Accord price, refresh, changes – The Accord is one of the best selling cars in its class and it is one of the most appreciated family cars on the market thanks to its small acquisition price, good and reliable engines and great interior for the price. Honda always tried to keep it well equipped and up to date and they are going to update it once again with the new Honda Accord 2016. While this update is not really needed considering most other cars in its class are nearly the same or worse than it, Honda will give the 2013 model a new look as well as updated engines. These should offer more power as well as a better fuel consumption.
2016 Honda Accord changes
Just like before, the 2016 Honda Accord will only be available in three different trim levels, base, V6 and touring. However, unfortunately the highly acclaimed wagon version is still going to be missing despite the trim level featuring its name. This is because Honda said it just didn’t sell well enough in order to keep it alive. However, the coupe version will continue to be offered which is actually great news because there are not that many coupe cars left in its price point. The release date for the update has been set for the first half of 2016 while the price will remain around $23,000 which is higher than some of its competitors but still great considering what it can offer.
2016 Honda Accord refresh
The design will change and even though a few months ago we had no idea how it will change, a few spy shots of the new Honda Accord 2016 and its coupe version have been leaked. The design is very similar to that of the current model but Honda managed to change all the essentials in order to offer a better and fresher look. The front end will get new headlights with LED daytime running lights and Xenon as standard as well as a more aggressive grille. The bumper will get small fins to direct air more efficiently and at the back a new exhaust system will be made available.
Inside the cabin we are going to see more of the same. The general layout will remain unchanged but a new dashboard design is going to find its place. This will be more refined than before and the materials on it should be better. The base equipment level will also see a few additions such as a new infotainment system with an 8.4 inch screen and a satellite navigation unit, a unique feature in its class. An automatic climate control system as well as an 8 speaker audio system will be offered as standard. The leather upholstery on the other hand will only come on the higher end versions and only as optional extras.
New Honda Accord specs
Engine wise, the new Honda Accord 2016 will make use of an all new engine on the top tier model while the base will get an improved 2.4 liter naturally aspirated inline 4. this will make more power with an expected 200 horsepower and around 180 lb-ft of torque. The 3.5 liter V6 on the other hand will come straight from Acura and it will include from the base model cylinder deactivation and direct injection, meaning it could provide as much as 300 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque while offering a 5% improvement in its fuel consumption. The hybrid models on the other hand will remain mostly unchanged. The inline 4 will get a new 8 speed automatic as standard while the V6 will be mated to the same 9 speed automatic found on some Acura models which is both smooth as well as very fast in changing gears. There are rumors that the 2016 Honda Accord coupe will also get a 6 speed manual on certain trim levels.
