2016 Dodge Charger release, price, specs, changes – The current Charger is a much appreciated sedan mostly because it offers not only a lot of performance but also one of the better looking designs in its class. However, the car has been around for a lot of time now and despite the fact it received an update a few years ago, the base remained unchanged which shows especially when it is compared with the other new cars in its class. In order to regain the top spot in their class, Chrysler and Dodge are going to work and release an all new model based on a new platform and with new engines. This has been rumored for more than 4 years now and the announcement of the new Dodge Charger 2016 made a lot of people happy.
2016 Dodge Charger changes
At this moment there is not a lot of information available about the 2016 Dodge Charger but it seems that it will use a very similar platform to the next generation Alfa Romeo full-size rear wheel drive sedan. New engines will also be available as well as a lot of new features. The release date for all of these has been set for the end of 2016 when it should come on the market for around $30,000 to $35,000 for a base car which is still great value for money considering that the Alfa Romeo counterpart will cost at least $20,000 more.
New Dodge Charger 2016 specs
Under the hood of the new Dodge Charger 2016 there is a bit chance we are going to see a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4 engine from Europe. This could provide upwards of 270 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque and it would make a nice replacement for the old 3.6 liter V6. Further up the range a newly developed 3 liter twin-turbo V6 could also become available. This will be derived from the 3.6 liter Pentastar and thanks to the two turbos, it could make well over 330 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque, enough to make the sedan faster than a lot of sports cars out there. The top of the range models on the other hand will likely stick with the 6.4 liter Hemi or the 6.2 liter supercharged V8 from the Hellcat. The 5.7 liter V8 will be replaced with the 3.0 liter turbo V6 but a more powerful 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 could also be introduced on a high performance or limited run model. All of these will come as standard with an 8 speed automatic and all of them will be available either with rear or all wheel drive.
2016 Dodge Charger redesign
The exterior will probably be the biggest change of this car because it will look like nothing Dodge did before. This will be a nice change over the current design which is already old by now. The front end will get some European influences while at the back a design more similar to a coupe will be used. Some even say that the 2016 Charger as well as most other cars from Dodge will take a lot of influences from the Viper which would make their cars extremely aggressive looking.
The changes will not stop here though because the inside of the new Dodge Charger 2016 will see a lot of improvements over the current model. The materials will be better while the design will be better to look at as well as it will make the car easier to use. The base equipment level will get things such as climate control, an adaptive cruise control system, satellite navigation as well as leather upholstery. These would make the 2016 Dodge Charger one of the best deals in its class and with the new engines it would certainly make a car worth looking at.
