2016 Chevy Silverado price, release date, changes – The current model of the Silverado is quite new on the market, only being released back in 2014, so it is one of the two trucks which are current with the latest technologies. However, because it wasn’t able to dethrone the F-150, GM is going to work even more on the next truck, the new Chevy Silverado 2016, quite an unusual release considering it comes out not even two years after the original release. This is because they want to secure their second spot and maybe get past the F-150 in the meantime.
2016 Chevy Silverado price and release date
The updated model should include slight changes to the exterior, a tweaked suspension system as well as minor changes inside the cabin. Most of the changes though are going to happen in the safety department where the Silverado is going to receive a lot of upgrades over the previous model. These are aimed at making it both safer as well as more comfortable to drive than before. Its price will not change all that much so the base model will still cost around $29,000 which is still more than the competition but it still is a great price for a medium size truck like it. The 2016 Chevy Silverado release date has been set to be at the fall of 2015 when it will also become available on the US market.
New Chevy Silverado 2016 specs
Under the hood of the new Chevy Silverado 2016 not much is going to happen besides the usual. In fact, the truck will come with the same three engines as before, the base 4.3 liter naturally aspirated V6 with 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque as well as an optional 5.3 liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Both of these will be offered even on the base model and on the 2016 model, both of them will come with the great 8 speed automatic which will send its power either to the rear or to an all wheel drive system. The top of the range engine will remain the 6.2 liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque which happens to be one of the most powerful in its class. It is also quite fuel efficient thanks to its cylinder deactivation feature and direct injection. Unfortunately a more frugal diesel or even a turbocharged petrol engine are unavailable meaning that the F-150 or even the RAM 1500 will be better in terms of fuel efficiency. In the near future we do expect a 3.6 liter twin-turbo V6 but this has yet to be officially confirmed by GM.
2016 Chevy Silverado changes
Just as we mentioned before, the 2016 Chevy Silverado will be quite a bit more different than the older model when it comes to the available safety features. For starters, it will come as standard with a lane-keep assist feature, cruise control, frontal collision warning, up to nine airbags as well as an optional adaptive cruise control unit which will keep the truck at a defined distance from the car in front of it. The equipment level will remain mostly unchanged with only the addition of a better infotainment system being the only real difference.
The exterior of the truck on the other hand will change a bit more. The new Chevy full-size pickup truck will get an all new front fascia with a different grille with new horizontal grille vanes, a more aggressive hood as well as brand new headlights and LED daytime running lights. The fog-lights are also new, vertical LED strips which make the truck look very good. The sides of the 2016 Chevy Silverado on the other hand are the same as before but in the back there is a slight change to the tailgate which will now feature new lettering for its name.
